Who We Are

Outdoor education – Sport – Accommodation – Conferences & functions

DUIN IN DIE WEG is a guest farm with an established Outdoor Education and Sports Centre, catering primarily for the school going youth. We also offer excellent accommodation and programmes for various groups, tourists, and have facilities for conferences and functions. Our aim is to please each of our guests with an unforgettable experience by the time they leave us.

Being located on a privately owned farm that comprises over 2000 hectares, it is also the perfect destination for our Gap Year, Outdoor educational and sport programmes. Our programmes are appropriately designed to fit different groups and focus on the environment, adventure, fun, leadership and sport. We cater for all grades, schools, teams and other groups.

Community Involvement

Duin in die weg is a community interactive and socially responsible organisation. Its lifeline is its customers on whom it depends for its daily existence in exchange for decent and affordable facilities, fun and happiness. Fulfilment of these ideals is unachievable without our staff jewels from our nearby communities. We honour and salute every one of you for your loyalty and tireless efforts to maintain the high standards that we strive for.
In recognition of their efforts we engage in numerous joint ventures and community initiatives.
Here are some of them:
Gariep Soccer Team
Duin in die Weg is the main sponsor of this team. Four team members, including the captain, work for us. The team plays with our logo on their jerseys, shorts and track suits. They are top performers in their league and we are proud of them.
Rugby Tournament
In March 2019 Duin in die weg held a national under 13 rugby tournament also attended by a Namibian team. Gariep Intermediate School was invited and sponsored by Duin in die weg. They have gained confidence as a result which is reflected in a substantially improved performance in their games to date.
Use Of Our Facilities
Our facilities are also enjoyed by other community institutions on a regular basis. Examples are the local Farming Association, schools, churches family gatherings, etc.
Community Involvement
Agribusiness in Sustainable Natural African Plant Products (ASNAPP) is a value chain development organization established to enhance growth in the African indigenous plant products and horticultural industries in association with the Stellenbosch University. The ASNAPP vision is to expand economic opportunities for rural communities by using world class science, technologies, partnerships and business approaches.

In co-operation with the Academy for Environmental Leadership and with the sponsorship of ACWA Power they have started a small, but intensive hydroponic production system under shade netting at Grootdrink School, as well as an adjacent open field garden, to produce selected vegetables for the use in their school nutrition programme and to sell the extra produce for an income for the school. Duin in die Weg is a key contributor to the Grootdrink project. We are co-operating closely with ACWA Power, the Grootdrink community and the Grootdrink Intermediate School in this regard. A number of our employees, headed by our Operational Manager, Frans Marx, have been and are still intimately involved with the establishment of the project to date.
